About GPGC
Membership-based, not-for-profit, by GPs for GPs
General Practice Gold Coast Limited (GPGC) is a Membership based organisation established, as a Division of General Practice, in 1994.
With the creation of Medicare Local Primary Health Networks in 2011, most Divisions of General Practice ceased to exist but the Gold Coast Division changed its name to General Practice Gold Coast and continued as an independent organisation with the health of the community at its heart. Healthy General Practice Health Gold Coast.
GPGC’s membership comprises General Practitioners (GPs), Practice Managers and Practice Nurses.
The objective of GPGC is to facilitate the advancement of General Practice, as a whole, by providing:
- Education and professional development opportunities for its members; and
- A forum for General Practitioners to meet and discuss local problems and provide support to each other as colleagues.
- Providing a communication tool between local GPs to allow quick dissemination of up to date relevant information, which has been so important during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A Board of Directors composed of up to five GPs, who meet monthly, govern the organisation. The Board works collaboratively and in an advisory role, with the Gold Coast Primary Health Network and Gold Coast Health to ensure that GPs and General Practice continue to be at the centre of patient care innovation and improvement into the future.
Having noted how many patients on the Gold Coast don't have regular GPs, and how difficult it can be to find a GP, in the right location, with the right skills, GPGC have created a searchable GP directory to help.
GP Members of GPGC can elect to have a profile on our website, which they control to allow patients to find them at whatever practice they are currently at. Patients or health professionals can search by doctor or practice name, location, gender, language skills or special interest/skills.
This directory also allows GPs to make it known whether or not they are currently taking new patients, happy to see other doctors as patients, whether they teach medical students or General Practice Registrars or are interested in research.
Meet the GPGC Board Members.
The GPGC website grew out of the collective thinking of our board members. To find out more about our board members, you can view the doctors profiles below.
