OT Driving Assessments Service

Do your patients need driving assessments?A pilot Occupational Therapy Driving Assessment Service has been developed within the GCHHS to align with the Statewide Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Project.This survey has been developed to determine current community demand for Occupational Therapy Driving Assessments for clients within the Gold Coast catchment. This will help us to determine feasibility of opening the service to community referrals.The survey will only take 2 minutes to complete. Your feedback will help us to determine feasibility of opening the service to community referrals.

GP Advice Line

Our GP Advice Line is available to assist with optimising patient management in the community. This service assists GPs and their patients to avoid lengthy or unnecessary waits in the Emergency Department or on Specialist Outpatient wait lists.GPs can call 1300 00 4242 (option 3), Monday to Friday 8am to 4.00pm, for non-urgent specialist outpatient advice or general service enquiries.A direct GP only line to GCUH Switch – 07 5687 0003 – is also available for for urgent specialist advice

Maternity Alignment TWO Program

Gold Coast Health in partnership with Gold Coast Primary Health Network will be delivering the “Alignment 2” workshop for GPs who have previously participated in the Gold Coast GP Maternity Alignment Program.This program will further enhance the skills and knowledge of already aligned local GPs providing antenatal care to women within the primary care setting.Saturday, 27 April 20248.30 am – 1.30 pmGold Coast University Hospital, E BlockTopics include:

  • Perinatal mental health
  • Prescribing in pregnancy and lactation
  • GP’s role in preventing placental dysfunction and preterm birth

Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Update for GP’s

Thank you to the 64 attendees who attended our Mental Health, Drug & Alcohol Update for General Practice earlier this month. The expert speakers covered a broad range of topics including specific education from our unit on HealthPathways. It was a fantastic turnout of GPs and Nurses with over 88% of attendees rating their overall satisfaction of the event as good/excellent.If you or your practice weren’t able to attend the event but would like access to the post-event resources, please email us at GCGPLU@health.qld.gov.au Save the date for our upcoming Women’s Health Update for General Practice on Saturday, 18 May 2024.
